WHAT SERVICES DOES THE TAUNTON HOUSING AUTHORITY PROVIDE?
The Taunton Housing Authority provides permanent housing for low- and moderate-income families through two main programs: the Public Housing & Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. Public housing assistance is provided at sixteen apartment communities owned & operated by the Taunton Housing Authority. These apartment complexes are located within the city limits of Taunton and are accessible by buses from the Greater Attleboro-Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA).
HOW IS THE TAUNTON HOUSING AUTHORITY FUNDED?
The Taunton Housing Authority is funded both through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Massachusetts Department of Community Development (DHCD).
WHERE DO I GO TO FIND INFORMATION ABOUT PUBLIC HOUSING AND TO APPLY FOR HOUSING?

HOW DO I APPLY FOR SECTION 8?
The THA participates in the Massachusetts Centralized Waiting List. You can pick up an application for Section 8 by visiting the THA Administrative Office on 30 Olney Street. You can also download the application from this website or by going to Massachusetts Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program Centralized Waiting List website at http://section8listmass.org.
CAN I, AS AN APPLICANT, INQUIRE ABOUT THE STATUS OF MY APPLICATION?
No. Due to our heavy workload and call volume, THA staff cannot accept requests either by phone or in person regarding position on the Public Housing or Section 8 waiting lists.
WHAT HAPPENS IF ANY OF MY INFORMATION CHANGES AFTER MY APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED?
It is the applicant's responsibility to notify the THA of any changes in income, family composition, employment status, address or phone number change, etc. All changes must be reported in writing. No applicant updates will be taken over the telephone. Failure to report any changes may cause your application to be purged from the waiting list and will require you to re-apply for Public Housing or Section 8 assistance. This will delay your possibility of being offered housing or assistance.
WHAT HAPPENS ONCE MY APPLICATION HAS BEEN ACCEPTED?
All applications are time and date stamped upon receipt. The application will be reviewed and entered into our computer system for placement on the appropriate waiting list(s) in the order that it was received and ranked according to established preferences. Assuming that you meet the preliminary requirements, you will be mailed a letter indicating that you have been placed on the waiting list pending further verification.
